Georgia s Birthday

Its my Great nieces birthday so I made her a can can scarf  in lovely shades of jade, purple and blue, it was very quick to knit up and I did enjoy my first step back into knitting for about 20 years!!!.  When deciding on a card for her I decided to carry on the colour theme and I scanned the scarf onto my computer and printed out the result using it as backing paper. I used a Sugarnellie stamp and coloured her with promarkers (and yes I did need to buy 2 new ones!!) and trimmed the card with a section of the knitting yarn.      I even made the box!!!!!! So all in all I did it "my way" I just hope she likes it

A card for a very Special young man/Sugar bowl challenge

This card is based on Erika s Sketch for the Sugar Bowl Challenge with the added theme Patchwork

The image is Sugar Nellie "Worried" and I have used some beautiful papers from the V & A collection which are based on vintage fabric samples from the museums collection.    I was working on this card when the new MSE card making section chose the new challenge for this month and it sure fits the brief which is " Hugs and Cuddles" so two challenges at once yeh!

The recipient? my beautiful grandson who will be 1 year old next month, oh how I wish I could cuddle him but my arms will not stretch to NZ.

look what I got!!

On the sheenie forum I complained about the toothy edge of my TH blending tool peeling off when I changed pads and was told it was ok to staple the toothy bit on.   I asked my lovely hubby if he could do that with his heavy duty stapler.    Why do you need to keep changing the pads he said !! after I explained about colour contamination he said do you need more tools then !!!!!!.......................yes that would be nice but at approx £5 a pop ... ahh. leave it with me he says

What do you think? £4.99 for drawer knobs £2.50  for the velcro and a lot of ingenuity and bits of wood from his workshop and I have not only 10 tools but a stand too.

So thank you sheenies for the information and a big thank you to my wonderful hubby.

card class

Yesterday I attended a card class at Papercrafts(home of Funkykits) here in Elgin. Thanks Jenny I really enjoyed myself and learned a lot too

We made these 3 cards. die cutting,machine embossing, heat embossing and stamping were all covered in the 2 hour class and I think we made  3 great cards   Jenny had to do it all again in the afternoon class!!!!

Yes before you ask I did have a wee spend too. I bought some of the mirri card you can see in card 1 You can heat emboss on it  !!!!!!!!

I have used Hippy Chick and coloured with promarkers ( I am loving the new ultra fine nibs and yes Kate I DO need a nib for ALL my promarkers :) )

The DP are from DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies stack and the gorgeous lilac floral ribbon is part of my prize draw from Crafty Ribbons

Sunday supplement

Well the saying every cloud has a silver lining was certainly true yesterday, the weather here was horrible so I took myself up to the craft attic and managed to do these cards

Number one is another of the "cars" stamps this time the Model T Ford and I backed it onto some bronze mirri embossed with Sir Tims "steampunk" folder and onto his "ideoligy" craft paper

Number 2 is my very first attempt at a twisted easle card and I am quite impressed with the idea ( I googled and found a you tube" how to") The digi image has been on my computer for at least a year and I printed it off for the first time yesterday, as you can tell I still love my nesties Parisienne Accents I think and the flower is spellbinders Rose creation.

Number 3 I used the same image again and added lattice rectangle to the mix of nesties

Number 4 should really have been number 1 as I started with this image as I wanted to try out my ultrafine promarker nibs and I was so pleased with the results they are definatly a great asset when colouring in small details.

So who cares if it rains... well ok.. I do .. but I still had a fun day.

MSE challenge "something moving"

My entry for this challenge, I have been struggling badly with blogger for the last few weeks and I do hope this one takes as the closing date is nigh

The car is from a set of stamps I bought at my local craft shop and I threw out the packaging and can't remember the maker stamped onto kraft card I made the wee flags myself (!!!) from ribbon and cocktail sticks.

MSE challenge " Animals"

Sadie over on MSE chose the challenge this time and  its "Animals", cue Jayne Netly Mayhew CD from Joanna Sheen it took me sooo long to decide which image to use then I noticed the paper on my desk, part of a birthday gift (thanks Marg) and it looked jungley and the colours fitted with this stunning Tiger.    One of the great things about the JS cd's is the choice of printing a whole sheet of different sized images so I used 2 of the largest and decoupaged the tiger. I feathered the furry edges of the top image. I added some wooden buttons striped with PM's and one of the smaller images as an accent. My OH was not impressed with the wobbly edge of the main image but thats how Ms Mayhew drew it so I ain't changeing it:)   I have not put on a sentiment as yet but I think it may be a birthday card or maybe a good luck as in "go get 'em Tiger"

My Birthday

My Birthday came and went and I have the pictures to prove it.  I was blessed with some lovely cards from forum friends

The virtual cakes you all sent me were stunning and would not put on an ounce but as you can see I did get a real "full of calories" one too.   My hubby gave me a gift voucher for Papercrafts Boutique and look what I bought ah bliss more spellbinders.   Maybe being a year older is worth it!!!!

This time its "things with wings" on MSE   Dragonllew has set this challenge and its only as I am writing this that I have realized that it would have been more apt to have used a dragon not a butterfly sorry Sarah!!!!!!

Sugarbowl challenge

This card is made following the sketch by Erica for SugarNellie challenge the optional theme was make some flowers.

I chose the paper from a new pad from Prima called "Fairy Flora" which I just could not resist, even though I need more paperpads like I need a hole in the head!!! There are 4 of the same pattern so I could use a whole page for the base and  stamped my image so I could paperpiece her dress, cut out the flowers  for her to hold and punch the 3 flower embellies from a second sheet.

The image is "Demure" from Sugarnellie I think she is so sweet, she has been neglected for a while now so it was time she came out to play.  I inked the edges of the flowers and added pearls for the centres.

I built a (mark one) camera light box (thanks Pep pop) out of a cardboard box and white paper, but still have not got the lighting correct.  Note to self  see if there is a basic camera/photography class at night school this autumn.

Sugar Bowl ..Kiki sketch theme love/wedding

This is my take on the current challenge, I have loved this image for a long time and it gets regular use. I thinks its Kissing cousins (?) I am really bad a keeping packaging so the name escapes me.  I have used the Parisian Motif die and a plain circle to make the apperture.   The flowers are cut with a Marianne die.   Brads and button and love motif have been in my stash box for ever (it seems) and the lovely papers are part of a freebie from a mag

mse "Good Luck" challange

This is my entry for the current MSE challenge to make a good luck card I have used  Joanna Sheens JNM Owl stamp and coloured with PM s.   The frame is my new "Fluer de Lis" Nestie and the tag is also a nestie "Fancy Tag".   I have made it in A6 size so I can add it to the Craft for Life pile.

Ok I went over the top with this one

This card is just pure fru fru and soo not me but I have this confetti paper and vellum that just shouted play with me so I did.

I used my Calibur and nesties to cut  the circle out and edged it with  Marriane  die cut  flowers leaves and then went totally over the top and layered the butterfly  and added "diamonds"  just cos I could.

The inside was covered with vellum  the  ribbon flowers sit on more shapeabilities die cut and 6!!! shapeabilitie borders to finish off

This is the full frontal pic , I enjoyed making it  and might try the "romantic" look again.

This one will be going to one of my June birthday forum friends so hope she likes it

MSE Challenge set by Cardpaperscissors

This the card I made for the current challenge, Red White and Blue with a circle

 I have been playing with alcohol inks(you should see the state of my fingers) The circle ,sorry about the flare, is made with a plastic disc tag from Tim Holtz, I have stamped the front with the word Create from the same stamp I used for the sentiment and the back is covered with cranberry and gold alcohol inks

The backing paper is from basic greys Ambrosia collection. I have mounted on red card and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment onto white card and  added red and blue gems

playing with distress

I felt like trying something new today and whilst rummaging in a drawer came across some inkjet printable acetate and since I only have 2 digi images so far ( I do not trust myself with the computer and printer but must really try harder)
 I printed out Thomas again 4 times to make full use of the A4 sheet. After I put the first sheet in and all the ink rubbed off I realised there was a right and wrong side!!! to this product.
Now what to do with a beautiful image that you can see through, I tried and failed miserably adding colour with promarkers and inks so was left with an image on my desk.

I decided to blog trawl to ease my frustration and find inspiration and found Erica Gunters sketch for the current Sugar Bowl Challenge the theme is vintage or distress. So this is my idea

Grandads workshed where he has pinned up some old bits and pieces cogs ,springs, a bit of string and an old photo of his now grown up son holding the wooden train he made for his so long ago .............. OK are you sniffing now .. I don't know why but I do feel a bit sentimental about this image. O.K enough already.

The backing cards are embossed with TH folders and all the scuffing and swiping of inks are also Tim's distress inks I attached the image  Thomas  from Funkykits to some distressed card with brads. Hope you like it.

Sugar Bowl challenge 58

The currrent Sugar Bowl challenge is a sketch and buttons so here is my take I have used the very sweet digi stamp "Thomas" coloured with promarkers. I mounted him on card embossed with my new tim holtz folder "steampunk"

which is all cogs and wheels which fitted well with the toy train Thomans is holding. Sorry the photo is a bit off colour the papers in real life are much less "dirty" looking

more craft for life cards

I went to a demo on Saturday at Papercrafts here in Elgin, and was just stunned by the new Spellbinders Shapeabilities dies so I jumped straight in. These are the Parisians Motifs and Accents plus Fancy Tags 2 and 3

(ok so I spent a wee bit) the card is the Colorbox Pearlescent "Nocturne" If Erika Gunter see( blog Snappycrafts) finds her way on here I hope she thinks I did her proud with this selection which are all based on the cards she did for us.

These 2 are made with Tim Holtz embossing folders on clarity silk card which I have brayered over with big and juicy ink pad

2 backing papers 4 cards, the cowgirl and the star girl are both sugar nellies and that stunning castle is the new Barbara Gray stamp and I tried the reflection technique from her dvd
